Submitting an Idea

Every great idea begins with a Spark...

Inspiration can strike anytime and anywhere. Capturing and cataloging your moments of inspiration has been frustrating... until now.

We created Sparks to make it easy to capture your moments of inspiration and turn them into full-fledged ideas:

Create sparks to quickly record new ideas.

Easily convert sparks into complete ideas when it's convenient for you.

Quickly submit ideas into innovation searches.

The Spark feature can be found by clicking the lightning bolt icon on your Dashboard.

Anything you put into a Spark cannot be seen by the Edison Nation Team until it is converted into a submission and submitted to one of our searches.

Edison Nation accepts ideas through our secure online submission process.

First, check out what searches we have running. You'll find we regularly work with household companies to help them find new product ideas. If you see a search that's a fit for your idea, submit!

We understand that we may not always have a search running that fits your idea. The Edison Nation Licensing Team hosts an ongoing search for new consumer product ideas in all categories.

Our Edison Nation ASOTV Team also hosts a search for new hit TV products that is open to you at all times.

If you'd like to learn more about the successful products that have come from our platform, please read through our success stories!

Edison Nation only accepts ideas through our secure online submission system.

Our submission system protects you from public disclosure of your idea(s) - your idea is never shared with the community during the review process.

Our system allows you to provide the review team with a detailed explanation of your idea, and allows our review team to evaluate your idea through our eight-stage process.

With Edison Nation, it's all about effectively communicating your idea.

Make sure you identify a problem, have an idea that can solve the problem and be able to convey this so the Edison Nation review team understands all of the idea's benefits easily.

If you can do this with sketch drawings and a description then great. If you have a sell sheet, 3D renderings, CAD images, photography, then even better. If you have a working prototype that you can show through video, even better!

It really is all about the idea.

We do not require ideas to be patented before submitting. However, we encourage inventors to visit the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) website to learn more about the patent process and the recent changes to the system.

We recommend doing a Google search ( and a patent search ( or to make sure your invention/idea is not already in the marketplace or patented before you begin the patent process as it can be very timely and expensive.
