Hello everyone,

I am new on here. Thank God, I found this site!

A little bit about myself: I invented a beauty related product that I am still excited about but the only thing is I am stuck. I have the prototype with me; I don't know if I should register a business and look for ways to raise money or sell it to a company.

Sell my idea to a company, because I feel lost; where do I go from here with a working prototype? How do I go on kick starter? I know it's going to cost me money to get a video shot for kick starter and also to get the product well made for kick starter. Please, I need honest opinions. Please help. I would sincerely appreciate honest feedback from members of this forum.

Starting my own company is my first option, but now I feel so lost. I was so excited at the beginning and I still am. I just don't know how to bring my vision to reality. Where do I go from here? How do I go form prototype to running my own business? I would really appreciate your honest feeback.

Thank you so much for reading. Looking forward to reading your feedback.

Hi Natasha, Welcome to EdisonNation and the EdisonNation Forums !!!

If your looking to present to different businesses and manufacturers I'm assuming that you have intellectual property (IP) protection already in place. If not, then stop right where you are and begin learning as much as you can about IP protection, it is imperative that you do so. If you don't have protection already in place then you are at extreme risk of loosing your idea to individuals who don't have any scruples what-so-ever.

It is difficult to advice not knowing how much research you have put into the market end of inventing, there are just so many variables that need to be attended to.

From my end I advise that you submit to ENs 'Open' search. It will give you an idea of where you invention stands in comparison to everything else out there.

Best of luck

Had to comment just because the Topic Name!

Reminds me of days when we were on a path to Serializing Chaos to give order to all things... That was an order rejected by the reigning oligarchy and therefore disrupted on a consistent basis.

There are some inventors here that are building a business around their product(s) while there are are some that are trying to get one licensed and others that are building a licensing portfolio as a business. You found the right place, Welcome!

That being said; The shortest route from your invention being an idea-> prototype-> product-> business is sales. You must be working on publicizing and working toward your first sale! This must be the focus of your every waking hour!

Natasha, it all depends on what you really want to do...  Are you prepared to put your life on hold and work around the clock and possibly go into debt to build a business from this product?  If not, a licensing or sale may be a better direction for you.  You can very easily become consumed with this process, and not everyone is in a position to make that type of sacrifice.

I would advise reading as much on the forums as possible... you can search for Roger Brown's lessons, or search by topic for specifics. Even if you don't go the EN route, you will get quite an education so that you can make the best decision possible regarding your options.  Good luck with figuring it all out.

Hi Natasha and Welcome!

If you are interested in submitting your concept to EN to be evaluated for a potential licensing opportunity, you are welcome to submit it to one of our searches! If you haven't already done so, check out the EN Help Page to learn more about how we can help you.

Best of luck whichever path you choose!
