A few feature requests

anant_gilra's Avatar

Can we kindly have the following options please
1. Given a search, show all your submissions in that specific search (Currently I have to go to each idea and then see its status for each search)
2. Select a level (Lets see G6 – see all ideas currently in G6)

Thanks,
Anant.

The Dashboard does just that,,,,hit submissions and scroll away..

The dashboard dhows all submissions logged by your for all searches. If I have 20 ideas each in 5 different searches, and if I want to see what I have logged in just Search A, there is no way to do that.

Similarly, if I want to see which of my ideas have reached G6, or G4 at any point of time. G4 is really imp, since most ideas go out at R4. I am not interested in seeing the countless G2’d and G3’s which fill up my dashboard.
I am curious to know if my G6’s (which will be fewer compared to my total count of submissions) have reached G7.

Hope both requests make sense now?

Anant.

Your idea makes sense however I would think sorting of the dashboard is not a top priority for EN. I have and I think others have as well made spreadsheets to track the progress of numerous entries. It can also show timelines of the ideas progression through the various stages. For the time being, you might try that.

Good luck.

Hi Penster,

That’s interesting. Where can I find the spreadsheet? Does it have data binding, i.e. it polls data from EN, and keeps the spreadsheet updated in real time. Such a s/w would be really useful to me. Hope you can share it.

Thanks,
Anant.

Hi Anant.

Nothing that sophisticated or automated. Excel spreadsheet is all, and you enter the information and updates. This allows for sorting the data as you want. I would guess there are other programs that you could use as well.

I don’t think there is any downloading options at EN.

Anant, I think this is not a priority. Searches are at an all time high so better EN staff spent their precious time reviewing submissions. I’m sure that over time the Dashboard will evolve to be more sophisticated. Best wishes.

I agree Penster and Mogie, that this is low priority – I just wanted to leave it so they can do it sometime later – maybe an year later, but this will be good to have.

Are you saying this many searches is not normal here – generally there are a lot fewer searches?

Anant, I have seen the number of searches grow hugely, a reflection of the kudos EN has gained in the commercial world. Its benefits us all.

Thanks for the suggestions, Anant. We implement member suggestions all the time. Right now, we’ve got our hands full with a few really cool new features but we’re going to keep these in mind for future releases.

Thanks, Matt! Appreciate that! Again, its a low priority, as other mentioned, but good to have down the line!

Also would be nice to have a way to sort the ideas based on highest level they have reached in any search. Insiders can use this sort, to quickly go through their ideas and select the ones they want to resubmit to a new search. Again, low priority, but just wanted to share this feature request.

Another feature request – Which I think is a little higher priority, as it will save time for members as well as EN.

I suggest breaking the Stage 4 to 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3
4.1 being – Useless idea; will never consider (Of course, a better wording for this needs to be used)
4.2 being – Found prior art; will never consider
4.3 being – Not a fit for this search – Can be considered for future searches.

This will people identify 4.3, and its the 4.3 they are interested in resubmitting. Means less work for EN, as they’ll have lesser ideas logged. Lesser work for members too, as they can ignore 4.1 and 4.2.
Another major benefit is that new stages are not added, so it it backward compatible (The 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3 can be placed one below the other.). Looking forward to Colonel coming up with a cool animation for this.

Something like this can be done for stages 5,6 or 7 too, though I think Stage 4 is really needed. There could be a 4.4 too.

Found a bug. Not sure where to mention it. So I thought I would mention it here.

If I click the archive button in the idea page, where all searches are listed against the idea, the idea is still visible and the archive button is still active in the My Submissions page.
In other words, the My Submissions page archive works but the idea page archive doesn’t.
Another minor issue, but just thought I would let EN know.

Another feature request! Hope someone from EN looks at this.

Can we have a way to hide an idea. I know there is archive, but I want ability to hide the entire idea itself.

When I want to choose from a list of ideas to optin, when there is a new search, there are so many ideas to look at.

I don’t want to delete it from the system altogether, as I want to keep the idea for reference.

Now that we have the feedback system, my plan is to take the ideas for which the reviews suggest prior art, or no market etc. Ones which don’t have a chance to win, even with modifications, and then hide them, so I don’t see them again and again, and see only the good ideas I have.

I think what Anant is looking for is something like the ‘Mute’ feature we have for the forum topics. We can choose to ‘mute’ a topic so it doesn’t show up on the page…yet, still have the option to view them when we want/need to…as on the bottom of the forum page where it says, ‘View Muted Topics’.

I’m still learning what’s available already…so, I’m good with the way things are. Being a moderator on another forum, I know there’s a lot going on behind the scenes that members are not aware of…so, all I can say about EN is….good job!

Well Frank. Why did they have the “Archive” feature then? I can understand that this might be low priority, but I don’t think this is a bad request.

EN’s site is like a book, so its reasonable to ask for bookkeeping.

Also, I am just submitting a request. If they don’t like my request, they won’t pick it up, and I am not going to complain, as its not high priority according to me either, but its still good to have. Ryan was asking for feedback (I couldn’t find that thread so I posted it here).

A feature I’d like to see, is the option to delete a submission from one search, without it deleting it in other searches.

For example, if we have product ‘A’ entered in a Lunch Hour Search and also submitted it in a specific search like the Medical search. If we wanted to delete it in the Medical search, but leave it in the Lunch Hour Search….we can’t. It will delete it in all searches. As it stands now, all we can do is let it ride until it is rejected…but it would save EN time and work if we can just delete it ourselves.

The reason I’m bringing this up, is because I have a submission in the Lunch Hour Search, with a G3…I decided to enter it in the Fortune 250 search. After I thought about it, an hour later, I don’t think it’s a fit for what the Fortune 250 is looking for. But, if I delete it, I lose my G3 in the Lunch Hour Search.

An option when we click on ‘Delete’ that will ask us which submission for that product we wanted deleted, would be nice.
