Hello there!

We want to make sure the content we share on Edison Nation's blog is helpful and useful for you all as members and inventors. In 2017, what do you all want to see more of? Learn more about?

Is it...

- Tips to promote yourself and your invention in the digital age?

- Best practices in crowdfunding?

- Day in the life of (insert EN team member)?

We're open to your ideas, so please share away! Don't be shy.

Thank you in advance!

I enjoy the 'Day in the life of...'.   It prepares me for my future job there.

Also sharing some links for us to use for drawings, sell sheets and prototyping.  I know we cover some on the Forums, but one place with the links would be nice.  Many of use doesn't have that Midas Touch like John V.  So, any sites with free downloads would be a great start. I've dabbled with Sketch up and Turbo CAD (Turbo isn't a freebie though, but is very good).

Also, maybe a topic for members helping other members. For example...someone may have an idea that would involve sewing...or working with wood or something...there may be a member that enjoys sewing as a hobbie and would be willing to sign a NDA and work out something with that member...make a few dollars and the other member will have what they need. I'm not talking about using big companies that want a killzillion piece order...but someone willing to do a few or even just one that might be needed to help with a prototype. We have some members that are very well educated with electronics who may be willing to help out members.  Just have members post what type of help they can offer and they will be our forever appreciated go to person.

I would like to see an article describing how Rafael Avila became a bazzillionaire with an invention he submitted to an EN search! :) (Can't blame a guy for trying!)

Kathleen, thanks for sharing these ideas! I think the "Day in the Life" posts could be fun, if I'm able to wrangle the help of our engineers, designers... perhaps even Louis. It can help you prep for your job here and also allow everyone to see what a mechanical engineer does -- do they really just play in the shop all day?

I also like the idea of doing a "skill share" series -- whether that's our showing you how to use online resources for drawings, or highlighting members who have specific talents.

Thom C, we could possibly do a "How well do you know your EN community?" type post with key stats!

Rafael, 2017 just may be your year :)

Thank you all for the ideas! Keep them coming. The blog is here for you -- we want to make sure we're contributing content that you all want to read and consume.

Hi Mary, Hope you had a nice Christmas

I really enjoyed Jeramys prototyping, It really helped.

I would like to see how En gets ready to pitch an idea to a company.

How do they contact companies they haven't before. When they get positive response, is that when they sign an NDA .

Is there any unwritten  rule of when is a good time to touch base, after the initial contact.

Since they don't always have a prototype when they pitch, do they gear up with drawings.

Is it good to say why your product is better then something that is already working for them, or could this work in reverse for the inventor.

Thank you

Oh and go Rafael, May 2017 be your year

Thanks Kathleen! And thanks for the additional encouragement, Charlie. I was trying to express in a comedic fashion the hopes that all of us EN inventors have. We all want to win a licensing deal with one of our inventions. I hope 2017 brings success to all of my friends here on the forums.

On a more germane note, I like the idea of the EN Blog showing how specific machines in the workshop actually work. In the #MannequinChallenge forum post I saw a lot of cool equipment in the workshop. For one tool, it looked like a person was standing in a bath of water that was part of the tool! I would love it if the EN Blog would show how some of those machines work. Video would be best. I think stuff like that is very interesting.

Frank, while I thank you for the metaphor, I have to admit that you've struck me with a severe case of jealousness! i'm so jelly!!!! My kids dream of walking through Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. I dream of walking through the EN work shop. Not figuratively either; I've literally had dreams about walking through the place. I woke up disappointed that I wouldn't get to see their matter replicator, like in Star Trek. Anyway, thanks for the visual. It sounds awesome!

I would like to see for everyone a creative tool box area full of the best link know to free software and demo links on how to use it . All in on place  this could be a very helpful place to visit on the site and especially to new members wanting to get the creative juices flowing.

A one stop shop .

Thom, in the Inventor's Lounge, there was an annual-ish poll of where everyone was from.  Haven't seen it in quite a while though. It was interesting to see how many folks were from other places besides the US, and helps connect those that are close by.  Maybe someone can figure out how to revive it.

I would like to see a Legal Update on what's going on in our government (Congress, SCOTUS, USPTO etc) on issues that effect We the Independent Inventors. Inventor's Digest does an amazing job with this IMHO but it would be nice to see on the blog too (?)
