Hey Everyone! New here, and wanting to hear your stories :)

Well, as the title suggests, I'm new here.

I've submitted my first idea twice (once to ACS, and then to ASOTV). While I've always had inventions, builds, projects, etc that I create and use.. this is my first time submitting something like this. I'm loving the process, the stages, and daily checking keeps me in suspense to see what happens next.  I'm reading up in the forums, and on the blog, and felt I should say hello!

I was wondering what your story is.  Are you a new-to-submitting person like myself?  Have you submitted a bunch? Have you had any approvals?  What kind of stages do you like/dislike? Anything that a new submitter may need to know (tips, tricks, or otherwise)?

Thanks, and good luck to all!

Hi Eva! I'm glad you're enjoying the EN experience.  You're doing the right thing by reading all you can on the process... so much to learn.  Good luck!

Hi Eva.  Sorry it took us 2 months to respond to your post.  Life is so busy that sometimes it gets tought to keep up with the forums.

Kim is right you are doing the right thing in reading all you can.  There is a lot of information on the forums and in the blog that will prove helpful.  You can get an indication of how many submissions a member has had, and how far those submissions have gone in the process by looking at their number of Insider Points.  You only earn points the first time you submit an idea, and the further an idea goes, the more points you earn.  This is all assuming that the member is an Insider.  As far as success, a licensing agreement is indicated by the G8 banner being installed underneath your avatar.  You get the G8 banner after after a licensing deal whether you are an Insider or not. However, not all G8's have actually made the inventor money.  Theirs no guaruntee that the licensing deal will actually land product on store shelves, or if it does land product on store shelves that it will sell well.  A lot of things have to go right to start collecting royalty checks.

All the best to you with your idea.

To add to what Kim and Derrick have said I'll offer this "tip": If you're busy like me and life (and deadlines) come at you fast, don't hesitate to make a "less than perfect" submission to get your basic idea in and then add more assets to the submission as soon as you can. So if you have to submit just text and a napkin sketch to meet the deadline, do that and then add renderings, prototypes etc. at your earliest opportunity. Just make sure to at least do your competitive product searches before submitting (otherwise it could be a waste).

What that does for me is "commit" me to the idea/submission and focus my attention against competing life priorities. Just don't let it go too long or your idea will be judged only on what you have been able to submit. Even then if the idea can be clearly described with text and a quick visual that may or may not be enough even if ideally you would have added fancy renderings, video, etc. Sometimes my "placeholder" submissions get shot down in one search and then I work on them more for a subsequent search (and as an insider re-submit for free) with more success.

*Apologies to the EN review team for the sometimes "half baked" submissions this has resulted in from me.

Welcome Eva!  I would say everyone's most disliked stage would be any with the dreaded Red X !

Hello Eva, and I am also new here, I never ever have thought about doing or submitting any ideas I thought I want to take a chance and see what will happen. And if my ideas can become reality. I wish you luck and everyone here .
