Just thought it would be fun and help keep the forum active if we had a thread to share updates on the status of our submissions when they move to the next stage or when they get the dreaded Red X. Just tell us the searches you're in and the stage of each of your submissions. Then come back here to update every time something happens on your dashboard. Here's my status: All Category Search: G3
Hey C.R. , I like your idea and believe it would be a way to increase conversation within the forums and possibly create a greater sense of community. I currently do NOT Have any submissions in process. My goal from the beginning was to develop and submit one idea per month on average. ( not including opt-ins) I am happy to say I am on track , I have a few submissions ready to submit and will have submitted at least 12 concepts by the time my one yr anniversary (3/16/20) rolls around. Providing others like your idea too, I will begin to post submission status as we move fwd. Good luck with your submission C.R. and I hope to see a G4 in your future postings.

Love this topic. Not green or red either. One of my last submissions received an R8. It was an innovation on the Cake Stand and Carrier. Unfortunately EN couldn't find a company to license it to. Been pitching it on my own and found a few interested companies. One is asking for a sample. Sending that soon. Fingers crossed. I must say that I Love Edison Nation because they take the obstacles out of pitching to companies compared to when you are on your own. To the folks out there just starting to "invent," as they call it, hang in there. Persistence wins, always. I've licensed 2 product ideas so far, along with several others under review. If you need help with company contacts--feel free to reach out. I'd be happy to provide some recommendations if Edison Nation doesn't work out. Best of luck!
Aw, sorry to hear about the dreaded R8, Vee! Sounds like you are a tenacious one, and a great resource! My commitment this year has been to take my concepts out of my notebook and into the real world, with a new submission every week (I have enough backlogged in my book!). I've been with EN since 2013, but only dropped an idea every once in a while previously and they never went anywhere. Currently I have: Crowdfunding: A G4 and a G2 All Category: 2 x G3's This week's submission is on deck and will be sent through by the weekend. :)
I have close to 105 red X'd submissions. Every ASOTV submission rejected. I think Im done submitting to ASOTV at Edison Nation. . zero license deals since 2009
ASOTV is definitely a tough arena. Not sure what category your product ideas fall in but I'd be happy to help you find companies that might be a good fit. I have contacts in housewares, pet, toy, etc. I have found luck in focusing mostly on the medium sized companies. Exhibitor lists, LinkedIn, Thomas Net, and even Amazon are great resources for finding open innovation companies.

My G2 just moved to G3 today :)

It's okay, I'm back in with a new idea! All Category Search: G1
I have 2, tool ideas in the all category search , one is at G- 7 and the other is at G-6 ! the other piece of the puzzle, which nobody asked and should be asked is when did you submit your idea ? G-7 April 2 , 2018 . G-6 Aug. 5, 2018 . Thank you , TJM .
Wow. Thanks for the insight Tim. That's crazy - My oldest (G4) All-Category is almost 6 months deep. I know they say the more complicated the development, the longer they take, but almost two years is a long time! Hoping you get your 2 x G8's! I got an R4 today in All-Category, and I have a new G1 in All-Category, bringing my tally to 4 in process right now.
You're right, Tim, the date of submission and the date of moving into another stage would be very interesting to know. I've seen so many people ask, "How long will it take to move into the next stage?" So for my first one, that went R4: All Category Search: R4 January 27, 2020 (G1 January 13, 2020 / G2 January 16, 2020 / G3 January 21, 2020) For the new one that I have just submitted: All Category Search: G1 January 28, 2020 Congrats on your G-7, Tim! I predict that G-6 will turn G-7 too very soon!
The G-6 has not moved in a very long time 10 or 11 months ? wasn"t keeping track on that one . TJM .
Thats good info Tim. Looks like both of those ideas have been in process for some time, longer than I would have envisioned. But green is GREEN ! Best of luck moving fwd and Thx for sharing the update.
Thanks Rodney , i also want to add the G-7, went from G-1 to G-7 in 23 days ! the fastest of any submission that i have ever entered at Edison Nation in 10 - 12 years that i have been here off and on ! and yes "GREEN" is always " Goooooddd! TJM.
Wow! That is really fast, Tim! That must mean they saw a huge potential in your invention!
I have a couple of G-3's on the "All Category" & One G-3 on Crowdfunding. Hoping at least one of us makes it to the top. :-)
Got another R4 today, but still have 3 in the game ;)

Hey CR, sorry to see the R4! - I jumped back into the green yesterday (2/10/20) with three Alll Cat ideas submitted. As of today....... I wonder if I can "opt" them into the new Everyday Edison search ?
@ Rodney Goodrich Insiders can "opt in" to any search as long as it is a proper fit for that search.
@williamj - Thank you for the comment you posted. Innovators - William hits on a VERY IMPORTANT aspect that everyone should consider very seriously. Opting in should be done with thought, make sure what you are submitting is a PROPER FIT for the search that you are choosing to OPT it into. Innovation is about research, and selecting the right searches to submit an idea into is an example of an innovator doing proper research. I know some have heard the example we often use...but there is no reason at times that a member of our review team should be evaluating a CHAINSAW submission in a search that is for KIDS TOYS. I think we can all see the potential issues there, right ?? So that is clearly not a fit...but that is just one example that we can provide where review team members have had to take time to respond/provide feedback, etc on a submission that clearly is not a good fit. So, especially since we just opened up many search buckets for Everyday Edisons consideration, please be considerate and think about your Opt ins, versus simply dumping your repository of ideas into a search that doesn't fit. We don't want to have members of our review team looking at a luggage idea in the Kitchen Gadget and Tool search...but we have already had to do that for the Everyday Edisons search that opened yesterday. Please help our review team be as effective as they possibly can be, by ensuring that you do your research before submitting. Thanks

Current status update: 2 x in Evaluation for ASOTV Q1 1 x G2 Everyday Edisons Kids 4 x G3's in All-Category 1 x G4 in Crowdfunding My Crowdfunding is my oldest submission - it's been in Stage 5 since October 16, 2019. This it the one I'm really itching to see succeed. :) I had two submissions Red X'ed at Stage 4 (1 in All Cat, 1 in Crowdfunding)
Not seeing many posts here.. is there really not much activity or just people don't post, or like me only post now and then. My personal update
G4 Everyday Edition (2/28) (G3 2/14, G2 2/13 G1 2/11) Resubmit of an idea still in CrowdFunding (currently G3 Feb 13, G2 Feb 7, G1 Feb 3). Interesting to see the resubmit now moving faster than the original. Submitted Second idea to normal search and everyday edisons as well (G2, G1)

Hope I',m not posting too "often" for others, but I am using this thread track my own progress on EN since notifications delete after 30 days. I actually hope there is a lot more motion on other people's submission but they are just not posting it.

Thanks for sharing your progress, Terrance! You can never post too often, this thread is here for that! I love seeing other people's ideas moving on their dashboard, it helps us be patient while we wait for our own ideas to move to the next stage.
Way to go Terrance! You are getting after it . I luv it ! - I still have 3 all category ideas sitting at G3 for past month or so. Will let you guys know if I move foward. Thx for posting you guys , I do enjoy seeing the progress. Its always encouraging to me. Peace!

Hi all! I hope this finds everyone well! I just wanted to throw this out there even though it won't answer all your questions, it is information that may be helpful about timing. Here is the link to a chat that Scott and I had a few weeks back Link to Video. We have another ready to post about the COVID-19 and timing/effects on product development/licensing but have some other great news in the video that we were asked to wait on sharing so that will be coming. In a nut-shell, keep inventing! :) As hard as it is sometimes, patience=opportunity

Thanks for the video. It was informative.

Terrance, it means they will show the G7 submissions to the company on May 1. That also means you should see movement on your dashboard very soon, since they have to pick all the G7s before then. Pirasta search: G3 April 27, 2020 (G1 April 17, 2020 / G2 April 20, 2020) Levinsohn Textile Company search: R4 April 24, 2020 (G1 March 5, 2020 / G2 March 12, 2020 / G3 March 18, 2020)

@C.R. Thanks. I was not quite precise. It said next was 5 (final consideration) I was worried the pitch May 1 meant that I was only at 4 but need to be at 7 so not likely to be far enough along to be in the presentation.
Terrance, I would not assume you will not go G7 (or red) in time for presentation. There is usually fast movement days before in order to review all before presentation (to either go red or G7). Good Luck
Just entered 3 ideas into the " Everyday Edison " search ! G-1 's 4 -28-2020.TJM.
@KJ, thanks. That is consistent with that C.R. said and what I am seeing now. I was just worried given how slow thing were going, G3-G4 was a month and assessing market potential (stage 5) can be a difficult process. But yes it is going faster now as today my Levinsohn Textile Company search went G5.. (whoo hoo) so G4 to G5 was just 4 days. Final IP review (level 6) should be straightforward as I've done my homework there and there is 1 or more patentable ideas in my submission, and wrote a patent draft for the submission in which I cited the most relevant existing patents.
Wow, some movement Terrance, that's great news!!! Its very difficult to pass stage 4. Wishing you a huge G8!!!!

@Tim. Congrats on the G6 for the All Category search that's been in the system for 20 months. If it's been in the system for that long and still seeing green movement, that's a good sign. @Terrance congrats on your positive green movement, especially the G7 in Levinsohn.
My pure GUESS is the EE dates were pushed from 5/4 to 5/18 (two week extension) due to the COVAD-19 closures?? Works for me! Gives me more time for more submissions. Best of luck all!

Okay, I'm gonna post all my current G's in here - I wasn't initially tracking when they moved through stages, but I'll include when they were submitted and will track movement from here on out for updates :) CROWDFUNDING (1) G4 submitted August 11th 2019 (it has been in stage 5 since October 2019, but is very technical) ASOTVQ1 (2) Evaluation - submitted February 20th 2020 Evaluation - submitted April 8th 2020 EE KIDS (2) G3 - submitted April 30th 2020 G3 - submitted February 20th 2020 (submitted to ASOTVQ1 too and Green in both) LEVINSOHN (1) G7 - submitted March 30th 2020 ALL-CATEGORY (4) G3 - submitted January 28th 2020 (a resubmit on an old ASOTV submission from 2019) G3 - submitted January 9th 2020 (very technical) G3 - submitted February 6th 2020 G3 - submitted February 3rd 2020

Not Green, not Red. But Launched. My kitchenware products launched recently. This pandemic slowed things a bit, however, things seem to be picking up again. If you need help with finding company contacts my advice is to research trade show Exhibitor lists, Thomas Net, Amazon etc. Highly recommend John Vilardi and Robert Pontius. John Vilardi designs great sell sheets and makes excellent prototypes. Robert Pontius makes excellent prototypes too and 3D models. Feel free to reach out, I have contacts in the Kitchenware/household, Pet, Toy, Office, etc space.

@Jim One good idea, at the right time, with the right people.

Jim, nice to see you had movement with ED kids toys and Healthcare. Any one else have movement with ED search?

I have four at stage 3, and one at stage 2.

Both of my Q1 ASOTV Red X'ed at Evaluation on 6/11/20. Honestly, I feel like I might be done submitting to ASOTV searches - nothing seems to get very far in that one. Everything else is still green :)
Yes Alicia, ASOTV ihas always been a very hard "nut to crack", but the pay-off can be huge if successful. You mentioned Q1/2020... was there a Q2/2020? I don't recall seeing it (or did it close already)?
No, I dont think there was Q2. I also opted 2 ideas into Q1, one of them was declined on approx 6/11th . But, the second one is still alive for now.......odds are slim , Never hurts to try , Or does it? Lol
I haven't seen a Q2 either...
Hello;Iam still at G3 since 08/01/20.Good luck everyone and keep inventing.
Bummed my first red X today R4.. on CF idea -- not enough Mass Market appeal. (It was G3 3/5 G2 3/2 G1 3/1) Might try to update the EE version of it before they kill that one too. Others still green: G7 Levinsohn G7/G6 4/30 G5 4/28 G4 4/24 G3 3/22 G2 3/123/14) InsiderLicensing G2 3/24 (mailed product for review 4/15 :-) EE G3 5/8 G2 5/1 G1 4/28 G4 Everyday Edition (2/28) (G3 2/14, G2 2/13 G1 2/11) G3 CrowdFunding (G3 Feb 13, G2 Feb 7, G1 Feb 3).
Dang.. on a roll downward. R8 on Levinsohn Feedback said its its too expensive to manufacture (no real reason why they think that. I think its can be reasonable but will need to prototype a few things to validate). Once it is red its officially "released" back to me right? Or is there some other notification I need to wait for before I go shop the idea to other companies (maybe do a provisional patent a bit more protptyping first).
Sorry for the R8 Terrance. You are correct. Once it goes R8 it is released back to you automatically.
Iam at G3 EN since 09/01/19.Good luck everyone.Stay safe.
Sorry to hear about your R8 on Levinsohn, Terrance! I got an R8 on that too - my feedback was the market was too narrow. However, I plan to resubmit to an all-cat on that one, as I believe there is likely a suitable commercial partner out there. I just got an R4 and G4 on two of my all-cats this morning. Still in the game. ;)
Congrats Alicia !!! on getting past the R-4 "MONSTER " he is relentless ! i still have 3 G-3"s in the Everyday Edison search , a G-7 in all cat. and a G-6 in all cat .search , have not moved in awhile ?! TJM.
Seems like those All-Cats you've got have been sitting there for a while, Tim! Hopefully you'll see some movement soon :) At least you know there's potential, maybe just need to find the right partner?
Seems like not to much going on in here lately ?! just wondering if anybody has a G-4 G-5 or better for the Everyday Edison search ? still have 3 at G-3 no movement in three months ! ? TJM.
Same here Tim..... (4) EE's riding at G3 status.
@alicia I've had a G4 on EE since (2/28).. no motion on any of my EE since then
First time I've experienced such inertia on EN. No movement since submitting in April.
Same. Sending good vibes for positive movement!
Would like to partner with EN one day.:) I've licensed 4 product Ideas so far. Well actually around 7 but a few fell through due to being over licensees budget etc. Some advice to the folks out there, stick with it! Provide a compelling sell sheet for companies if submitting on your own. Provide a proof of concept/prototype if possible. This can definitely HELP in receiving a licensing offer. Prototype materials can consist of cardboard, plastic(3D prints), wood and so forth. Keep a sketchbook handy. I came up with an IDEA a couple of weeks ago. Drew it in the middle of the night. Submitted sell sheet the next morning and heard back from Vice President within 45 minutes of submitting sell sheet. Received 2 licensing offers from a well known company that acquired a Shark Tank product. There is nothing really special of how i approach companies. I simply send a brief email asking if they accept product IDEAS. If they do, I proceed from there. If they don't, I thank them for their Time. Research companies...read, listen, watch content. There is nothing special about me sorta speak. :) I just know that I have IDEAS to share with the world. If you need pointers, don't hesitate to reach out. I am more than happy to provide tips. Thank you.
Sitting at G3 since March.
I still have a lot to learn about licensing. One can Never stop learning. What I do know though is to NEVER put all your eggs in one basket. Companies have different interests in terms of product lines. Simply because one company says, "No, thank you," keep GOING until you receive a YES. I have received countless No thank you replies only to find a company that is interested. Your Drive and Dedication will pull you through those passes from companies. I don't have any special drawing skills. IDEAS/Concepts look a lot better in my mind. If you can draw a stick figure, you can certainly license an IDEA. All it takes is your Creativity and Imagination. I am happy to provide my contacts for sell sheets and prototypes. They are very affordable. They are also ok with signing an NDA. Good Luck!
Hey Vee, I know I really need to work on my sell sheets. I would love any pointers to make them better and more clear in what my ideas can do. I would also like to pick your brain on how you find the companies you submit your ideas too. thank you for your insights
Hi Vanessa, I'm happy to help. Sell sheet should include a: Descriptive Title Tagline Features Benefits 1-2 maybe 3 images of you IDEA. Your name, email perhaps phone number. Companies email 99% of the time on initial contact. For instance-If I have an idea for an improvement on a gardening tool, I will type Gardening Tool/s into Thomas Net, Amazon etc. Companies will pop up. I email those companies asking if they accept product ideas. It takes work for sure.:) Sometimes a couple hours each time for 2-3 days and so on. Companies will start replying. If they say yes, you can ask if they are open to signing an NDA. Once you and the company sign, you can then submit sell sheet. Feedback typically takes two weeks. Give them Time. Do not email them before the couple weeks. Hope this helps.
Vee, Yes that does help. Thank you! also where do I find a good NDA form?
Vanessa, you're welcome! Roger Brown has a few NDA samples. Rogerbrown dot net @Cassandra Marin-I tried to reply to your message. However, it says that I reached maximum messages...to add you as a friend...not sure if EN has a glitch or something.
Vee, Thank you! Will definitely check it out.

Loving how this community helps one another! ❤️

I'm still in G3 since may 18 2020. I wonder if they not really doing why test due to covid?
Happy Fall Y'all!... Just wondering if anyone has had any movement or success lately? I love hearing good news ! :)
Well some motion today, with mixed red and green as we approach christmas. G4 12/1 on EE idea EE G3 5/8 G2 5/1 G1 4/28 R4 12/1 on EE EE G3 3/5 G2 3/2 G1 3/1 S tied to a R4 CF idea-- updated but clearly not enough. Overall I've found the feedback very minimal and lacking supporting data just a few links to related products in the space. Others still green: with > 8-10 months no motion InsiderLicensing G2 3/24 (mailed product for review 4/15 :-) G4 Everyday Edition (2/28) (G3 2/14, G2 2/13 G1 2/11) G3 CrowdFunding (G3 Feb 13, G2 Feb 7, G1 Feb 3). I've pretty much given up on them doing much of anything with these and will soon launch my own kickstarter for one of them, and have teams of students doing market research on others.

for the next great Kitchen Tool or Gadget innovation G3 - All category g5. over a year and 1/2 on the all category.
I got 2 submissions moving forward through step 4 (4 green checks each) today. They sat idle for 9 months until that happened. So it's a big deal :-)
3 G- 4 "s for Everyday Edisons ! two are tool inventions and the other is a child toy . ! the tool inventions are also sitting at G-6 and a G-7 in the all cat.the child toy was an R-4 in the all cat. i up dated and sent a different video and now it's a G-4 so they saw something in it this time !!! TJM.

G3 for a month or so. I got an email saying it moved, but then it appeared to move twice (two emails) probably a misclick or a reversal of movement.
next great Kitchen Tool or Gadget innovation G4 Yay!
Has anybody gotten to G-5 level yet . ? i see some members are starting to move to G-4 like myself but not too many, for Everyday Edison search ?! hope everyone keeps moving up, sure would be nice to see more green for Christmas and i am not talking money !!!! good luck to all and "MERRY CHRISTMAS " TJM.

Jeffrey, I like your Excitement! Congratulations G-4 is a big hurdle!

I've got a G4 on the Everday Edison search, as well. Seems like it's been sitting there for quite a while. I would assume that's a good thing, but I'm getting a tad anxious with no movement in over 6 months. Does anyone else have the same? I'm resisting the urge to reach out to EN to see if they're just backed up or if there are some behind the scenes things going on. I'm just too impatient and nosey for all this suspense. :) I hope everyone has had a great holiday. Let's get this year started right and invent something that makes this world a better place!

Hope everyone is doing well. Following up here. I'm going on my 8th licensed product idea. Five product concepts have been licensed during this pandemic. Three toys/games, one household item, one kitchenware item. Have a handful more being considered. My advice is to keep plugging away because you don't know which licensing deal will fall through. Companies can go from "I love it," one minute to "costing is too expensive." This has happened to me a few times with licensing deals. Never take things personal. It's business. Don't let your passion for creating overwhelm you. If you treat it as a business it will pull you through to the next Idea, company, etc. Best.

Hi All. Seems like forever since I've engaged here. Vee R__ nudged me in an email earlier today when she mentioned EN so I thought I'd just check in. Happy New Year! P.S. - on topic: I still have one G7 that has been green for 6 years and a few other lesser greens that have been hanging on for years as well. No recent submissions though.
Wow Rob, G7 for 6 years. I bet it's a clever idea. Perhaps the delay is finding the right partner. I would be open to sharing some of my contacts with EN staff to see if they can get that licensing deal for you.
@Vee, congratulations on scoring your 8th licensing deal. That's impressive. All the best to each of your ideas. @Robert, Great to hear from you again man. I my attitude toward long-standing G7's, or anything beyond G4 for that matter, is that as long as they are green, there is chance of moving forward. R's don't move forward.........Reminds me of the movie Dumb & Dumber............"so you're telling me there's a chance"???? :) https://youtu.be/zMRrNY0pxfM

Derrick: I agree - I think EN keeps some submissions at G7 for extended periods when they get some great initial traction that doesn't turn out but they love the idea and have hopes they can find another licensee and want to keep the idea "live". My guess is that EN would be happy to release any G7's if the inventor comes up with another option or just wants a free hand with the idea.

Hello and hope everyone is doing well. I have a two G3's(early stages) and a G'5 which has been there for about a year and a half now. Ahh the suspense and excitement! haha. It is great to have something to look forward to then just covid stats. A true outlet for us!
Cristina, one year in a half is a very long time to wait and is highly unusual for EN; I would send an e-mail requesting an update. I have two G3's hoping to see movement soon!
Ok, maybe I should...thanks for the advice! Good luck and hope your ideas keep climbing!

Cancelled my insider membership due to no movement for months. Thankfully I got movement the day my membership downgraded! I am now officially R4 - instead of "stalled" G3 because I was providing monthly income on top of my SUBMISSION FEE. Pretty sure this is the normal status quo around here. They waited till the day my membership downgraded so they didn't have to waste any time providing feedback Classic EN - I am pretty sure the G8's are all in on the scam, especially given how well the last Kickstarter went. I am sure as long as you are providing money every month, you will stay G3 for the forseeable future.
@ Mary & Cristina, I also have a G4 that moved very quickly through the first stages and has been G4 since Oct 2019. To be fair - it's way more technical than any of my other submissions and would need a lot more R&D. @Robert - wow a G7 for 6 years seems insane, but I agree they are probably trying to find a better fit. It would be nice if they'd communicate things like that to us though. I know they don't like to get our hopes up, but the silence can be deafening. I got an R4 today in All-Cat, hence me logging on for the first time in months... Still have three G4's in play. 1 Crowdfunding, 1 All-cat and 1 Kid's toys.

I do not think that is a fair statement, that the day you cancel your insider membership you got an R-4 . i have not been an insider for a few years now and i have 3 G-4's a G-6 and a G-7 they did not give me the boot for canceling my insider membership yes i will agree things have been slower and no searches for quite awhile now , with the covid outbreak everything changed not just here but everywhere i am a Master plumber and work on a lot of school projects so i can tell you things are completely different ! things will get better all you can do is keep putting ideas in the process so when things do break loose you can hit the ground running ! thank you TJM.

Well said Tim, I agree there has never been any pressure since I've been a member from EN to remain a insider member.
