Hey All!
I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on this :)
I recently had an idea for an 'adult toy' invention, inspired by my friend who bought the patent for an ED device (technically a medical device) but he has recently launched it and turned it into a $200m brand. Anyway, the man is a wealth of marketing and entrepreneurial genius, and we talked extensively about how he actually models the company more on successful adult toy companies, than medical devices. I'd be happy to chat more about that behind the scenes if anyone is interested on his take on that, which is really interesting.
Anyway, I reached out to EN to ask if they'd be willing to accept 'Adult Toy' inventions - and it turns out that they do, and they have.
I had suggested a streamlined open search 'EN After Dark' or similar, so that submission reviewers wouldn't be surprised by any sensitive content coming through.
What do you all think? Do you think a toy specific search is a good idea (Amazon have a big adult toy market, for example)?
Does anyone else have any ideas that they could submit to such a search?
Here is EN's response:
Good morning. We have had submissions in the past for adult toys and do think your idea of a specific "EN After Dark" search is interesting, as we too have spoken internally in the past about ways to "alert" reviewers when they may be seeing some sensitive materials.
"The global adult toys market will reach 35.5 billion USD by 2023 from 23.7 billion USD in 2017 with a CAGR of 6.97% during the period.
The increasing use of adult toys for therapeutic purpose is the major factor for the growth of the market. Increase in openness, drive for excitement and adventure, passion for quirky products and heightened desire for experimentation are the factors driving the market. On the other hand, negative impact of sex toys restrain the market growth"

The major players in the market are:
- Amazon.com
- Church & Dwight Co. Inc.
- Doc Johnson Enterprises
- LELO
- Luvu Brands
- Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC
And for a great case study - here is my friend's successful ED startup :)
I'm interested to hear everyone's ideas on this on this lucrative market opportunity!
