I have a new e cig tank design but....

Hello my name is Sean. I am designing something that is new to the vapor industry (I’ve checked all over). However I am having a difficult time understanding how to go about getting my idea manufactured and sent out to the public.

Hi Sean!

To get started and submit your idea, you are already halfway there by creating an Edison Nation account!

All you need to do now is submit your idea to one of our applicable searches – my recommendation would be to submit it to the National Inventor’s Month search for a discounted fee of $15 (running through the month of May). Here is a link to that search: http://www.edisonnation.com/live_product_search...

When you submit an idea to Edison Nation, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions outlined within the Innovator agreement. You can review that agreement by clicking on “Legal” within our Help section found here: www.edisonnation.com/faq.

Hope this helps to clarify and we look forward to reviewing your idea!

Good luck Sean,
I think the e cig will prove to be the best and smartest nicotine delivery system ever devised. I quit smoking twenty years ago and yet I occasionally will use one of the sleek looking cigs with no nicotine just for the fun of it.

Greg, just yesterday I had to take one of my best friends to the ER almost immediately after he puffed on his e-cig. Can’t remember the brand. He experienced extreme hypertension eventually leading into a panic attack. His face turned stark white and his hands were shaking the entire ride to the hospital. His breathing was as if he’d just ran a mile as fast as possible.

E-cig health effects are yet to be fully understood, pair that with the unregulated nature of what types of chemicals are in them, and the potency of these chemicals, I’ll steer clear.

That said, Sean, you’re in good hands here with EN and these forums if you’re looking to get started as an inventor. With the amount of knowledge here you’ll be up and going on the right track in no time.

Thank you Adam for the info. However, I know that e cigs health problems are mostly from the liquids that people use. Now I probably should have been more clear on what I am makeing Lol.
I have a new tank design for e cigs that are called mech mods. Also, just the other day I came up with another design to help vapor stores sell there liquids more efficient

Sean, are mech mods more of a design or look, than function? Or does the mech mods provide a design feature that helps or changes the way you vape? I also have a design mod bouncing around in my head, but I don’t vape. It has no function, just looks. Would that fall under Mech Mod? Are most batteries for the pen types interchangeable with different brands?

Good question kenneth. Mech mods are alittle bit of both design and function. Also yes to the second question, because it gives the user a more custom feel to vapor. I will explain more soon, I’m at work right now lol.

Adam, I hope your friend is ok. I wouldn’t defend each manufacturer of these products. I wouldn’t buy Chinese product. There are American made alternatives. I don’t advocate e cigs over abstinence. Abstinence though isn’t an option for those addicted to nicotine so this invention may very well save millions from a horrible death of lung cancer or many other diseases attributed to cigarettes. I’m sure there are some bad as well as good players in this burgeoning industry. Here is a little bit of info I came across in my own research on the subject. I had entertained the idea of opening a shop some time ago.
“In comparison to tobacco smoke, which has at least 5,000 chemicals (the actual figure is unknown), electronic cigarettes have a clear advantage because they only contain a handful of chemicals. The major ingredients of the nicotine solution used in the cartridges are propylene glycol (or vegetable glycerin), nicotine, water and approved food flavorings such as acetylpyrazine and malic acid.”
Some say that nicotine is no more harmful than caffeine, that it is tar which causes lung damage which is not present in the e cig. There are many researchers working for and against the acceptance of this industry so I’m sure we will be inundated with real and fake science as time passes. I’m on the side of acceptance as my family has been devastated by smoking. It appears to be a very plausible stepping down to non addiction method.
Sean and Kenneth may be two fortunate inventors if they focus on this industry as it doesn’t seem to be going away.

Thank you Greg I couldn’t of said that better. Also I agree about the vapor industry, all its doing is climbing.

My brother smokes e-cigs, or should I say vapes. He has one of those adjustable voltage types and I swear sometimes I think he has it turned up too high, because he will exhale and still be exhaling after two or three words. I have heard of people getting water on the lungs and having to go to hospital like what Adam describes. I think it’s fastenating about the technology behind it. There really isn’t much to them, because you know me, I took one apart to see how it worked! lol

Kenneth lol that’s exactly how i found out how they worked; however, upon learning I found that there was a problem and I wanted to fix it

If e cigs contain a handful of chemicals, how many chemicals are in a handful of cigarettes?

Congratulations Frank! It was one visit to an alchemical hypnotist that did it for me.

I’ve heard that a lot of people are using the e-cigs in place of regular cigs with no intention of quitting either, and you can get a much higher dosing of nicotine with e-cigs (which is probably what happened to Adam’s friend), which is also harmful and much more addictive. And I don’t care what anyone says… if you’re inhaling smoke from any source, that can’t be healthy! Congrats on quitting Frank. Hopefully you feel better now. Alright, the nurse will pipe down now! lol

I agree with you on that Kim. That’s why i said the main problem is the company’s that make the liquids. So it’s not the e cig or mech mod; however, if done correctly it’s a good source for quitting.

To submit or not to, that is the question. I have read around on this website and even received a phone call. I don’t know if iam understanding it but it seems you make a idea then Edison takes the idea and helps you out.
However it seems like they dont help build a business but only licensed your ideas to another business and then split the royalties. Now am I reading/ hearing that right?

Thank you Frank I now have to do some thinking on it then. Plus I don’t know if they have any companies related to the vapor industry.

I understand now thank you frank. I do like how they will “seek” out and takes a lot off me trying to get it out there.

The Vape business is lucrative… I have a friend that invested in a start-up ($5-10K.. can’t remember exact amount). After about 6 months, he sold his interest for $35K. Not bad!
**That is NOT investment advice… he’s just a really savvy investor!

$350. a month!! Holy moly! That’s a lotta cash to burn

Nicotine is very toxic. oral LD 50 @ 6.5–13 mg/kg (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC388...), but nicotine from vaping 18mg/ml vaping solution is less effective at delivering nicotine than cigarettes (1/3 to 1/4 ).(http://www.nature.com/srep/2014/140226/srep0413...). I have never smoked but the vaping devices are fascinating.

I've been a vaper for about 3 years now.  Would be interesting to know if Sean Rouse (the OP of this thread) ever got anything done with his design.  I'm sitting here wondering if I own the tank he designed lol.  I own a fair abount of equipment so it's possible.
