I'm also having an issue with this.  As an insider, we're paying a monthly membership fee... for nothing.  No movement, no news, no communication at all.  9 months of silence is hard to ignore and understand.  What's the point of the insider program if there is NOTHING to show for it?

Just a few days ago, I received notification that my submission has moved to the Research stage.  It had been in the prior stage for several months.

This is my first time back to the website and forums section in a long while. An email from EN stirred my curiosity. I used to be quite engaged on this site and would often submit product ideas. I enjoyed bouncing back and forth between EN (which I viewed as a more serious option due to their non-disclosure agreements) and Quirky because there was a lot of action and excitement as the rapid pace of concept to market along with community collaboration was very exciting! I believe those were the golden years (while very short) for participating in this type of amateur/hobby invention submission process. As time went on and Quirky eventually went bankrupt, the level of active participation here waned among members (in my opinion). It was difficult to stay hopeful and active in EN with the long time periods  involved with the 8 stages of the evaluation process. I feel lucky that a number of my ideas would get to level seven... but they would often stall at that point for numerous months on end (like, almost a year) with zero communication. If I’d ask for an update in the forums, I’d normally get criticism from the regulars for being impatient and not understanding the level of work faced by EN employees, but what really annoyed me - and this happened a number of times - is I’d receive word of a X within a few days of my inquiry. While it’s always disappointing to receive an X at any stage, I was angry that I would always have to ask and then receive an update in days after waiting on pins and needles with excitement for up to a year. After awhile, regardless of having ideas reach stage 7, I just felt forgotten about. The fun was gone. So, to those of you becoming disillusioned with the wait time and lack of communication, I hope those issues are resolved or you’ll probably just end up giving up on it as I did. I’m sure we all understand the low probability of achieving success, but at least it used to be fun... like buying a lottery ticket and dreaming of what might happen should you actually win. If EN is still a legitimate company that actually reviews and evaluates the viability of product submissions, they have a long way to go in building out the other aspects of the site that actually create engagement with its members.

Just my thoughts. Good luck to those with big dreams.

Good to hear from you Chip. Your critique was thoughtful, respectful and very well-spoken. Best of luck and happy inventing to all in 2021.

Welcome back, Chip, and I agree with you. You brought back some great memories. It was fun to learn that one of your inventor pals was achieving success; it kept you hopeful that it could be you next time. I used to love how we cheered, encouraged, and supported each other with every new product contest search. Members would announce how they would relate to the product search challenge. Some members already had a product in mind to submit. Sometimes, the night before the big product sponsors' presentation, En would start the significant elimination process, giving most of us the big dreaded RX, but that was alright because some of our inventor pals made it to the finals having their ideas presented. We were so happy for them! We were a close community years ago. I can't speculate what's happening with EN, but I have noticed a change. Fewer product searches, less communication, and delays in product reviews. I am sure, like the majority of businesses, Covid has affected EN business. It would be helpful, I think, if they would communicate and keep us in the loop!

Yes, it has changed for sure. Seems to be an empty vessel at the moment. Sad too - had a great chance to really hunker down on more content and interaction since most people are working from home. I found many companies either fell apart or got stronger from Covid. Since insiders pay a membership fee I saw this forum as more of a larger part of the way EN could have interacted with inventors outside of Searches and feedback. It also would have been a fantastic opportunity to create a more interactive experience on say a community developed project on a Crown Funding platform.

Yet it seems with all the mergers and challenges the website and therefore the platform has become a ship with no rudder. Breaks my heart.

Cancelled my insider membership due to no movement for months.

Thankfully I got movement the day my membership downgraded!

I am now officially R4 - instead of "stalled" G3 because I was providing monthly income on top of my SUBMISSION FEE.

Pretty sure this is the normal status quo around here.

They waited till the day my membership downgraded so they didn't have to waste any time providing feedback

Classic EN - I am pretty sure the G8's are all in on the scam, especially given how well the last Kickstarter went.

I wouldn't waste another dime.

Well Alex. I received a Red X on one of my submissions just a few moments ago. I can assure it has nothing to do with downgraded subscription. ( i am still an insider) Typically the "group" as a whole will see movement on submissions in batches, at least this has been my observation.

Bottom line is I think you are reading little to much into your R4. Large majority of submissions don't make it pass this toll gate and I honestly don't think its fair to besmirch EN in this way. Just my opinion.

Best of luck to you!

I can probably win this argument...lol.

I have a submission that's been at G4 since October 2019. To be fair - it's an extremely technical invention, so I'm hoping it can go the distance after all this time.

I did get an R4 today, hence why I logged on, and another G4 a few months ago. Things are still moving, but much slower than the same time last year.

I know that the EN team have been extremely busy, so who knows what's happening on their side of the fence? The pandemic isolation has had me focused on other things, which is a nice distraction from wondering how my submissions are faring.

I have 3 G4's still in contention right now.
